Designed in Denmark by designer Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the SAS Radisson Hotel, the egg chair reached its peak popularity in the 1970s. The chair is made from an egg-shaped shell of fiberglass or some other moldable material. The padded interior softly embraces the shape of the sitter. This encasing makes the experience of the egg chair seem more personal, as the seat’s shape gives a bit more privacy than the typical chair.
