Now this is a somewhat amazing fact because there probably aren?t too many homes out there that could not benefit from the numerous advantages offered by a bench. In particular, a quality-made upholstered hall bench can multi-task and handle a number of important roles, including:

1. Added storage for things like bed linens, outdoor clothing, and just about anything that needs a handy place to be stored out of everyone?s way but still accessible

2. Serve as extra seating during family gatherings and this is still true if the bench is made completely from wood and un-upholstered. Any spare seat that can double as a storage space is an added bonus in any home.

Lots of times, people get choosy when they are buying a new computer, a cell phone, a refrigerator, or a flat screen TV. They try to learn everything they could about the item by reading product reviews in magazines and on the Internet; they ask friends who have tried it, and even go out to comparison shop. It?s understandable, because people want to get value for their money. But oftentimes, furniture shopping doesn?t get the same amount of research and preparation that a new appliance or electronic equipment does.

I don?t understand this. People should be giving even more effort and time into furniture shopping that they do with TVs and mobile phones and digital cameras. Quality furniture usually costs more than household appliances, after all, and they last longer too. A good dining table, for instance, will last for years with proper use and care, while your digital camera will probably become obsolete six months after you bought it. There is a myriad of pushchairs and strollers on the market. Wonderful sounding names such as Bugaboo and Cosatto. Most parents will know of Mamas and Papas - but what are the most important aspects to choosing the right pushchair for your child or children?

Is a pushchair or stroller a fashion statement? You could be forgiven for believing that it is. Many new pushchairs boast ultra-modern designs, colour changing abilities and they come with a price tag to match.

I first became interested in pushchairs when I became a father - obviously! - and like many parents fell into the marketing trap, choosing a pushchair for all the wrong reasons. The right reasons for choosing a pushchair are weight - it should be light, mobility - it should be easy to push, price - it should be affordable and sensibly-priced, it must meet safety standards and it should be a manageable size.

The term modernism was first used in the late 19th century when the society was eager to alter, reshape or improve their environment assisted by the rapid growth of technology and advancement of science. Hence any furniture that is built during that period and conformed to the trend of modernism is referred to as modern furniture.

Many eyebrows were raised when the first lot of modern furniture was introduced to the public in Germany in the early 1900s as they were made of non-traditional materials such as moulded plywood, metal and plastic. This Zen-inspired simplicity is perceived as beauty and classy. Some even believe the Art Noveau movement sprung out of this influence and artists such as Charles Rennie Macintosh, Eileen Grey and Frank Lloyd are known for their modern works which are often infused with Asian motives.

You’ll want a stable, sturdy model that can stand up to spilling, kicking, and regular cleaning for at least a year (some babies can’t bear to sit in a high chair after that). A chair with a tray that can be released with one hand is also a plus. Picture your baby occupying your other arm while you’re opening and closing the tray; it’s just one of the many physical feats you’ll be asked to master as a parent.

A high chair usually consists of a frame of molded plastic or metal tubing and an attached seat with a safety belt and a footrest.
