Modern Outdoor Furniture: Ego’s Kama Collection in the Middle East

Ego, the French furniture company, has introduced a new line of modular outdoor furniture. This collection, called Kama, has been unveiled and released for use in the United Arab Emirates.

kama.jpgPraised for its versatility, the Kama collection is comprised of loungers, divans, chairs and tables that can be rearranged to suit the buyer’s tastes and needs. The pieces can be altered just by moving the cushions around. In this way, chairs can become loungers and even sofas or beds. Some of the pieces would even make great ultra modern bistro chairs.

Jean Sommereux, Ego’s manager, had this to say about the furniture, and about tapping the Arabian market: “This is a really unusual product. You can adjust it to fit in with how you are feeling at the time.” “This is a great market but you need time to break into it. It’s a long-term relationship with regard to customers out here. They want to know who they are dealing with. But it’s amazing how receptive the Middle East market is to new designs and how it is able to absorb styles from all over the world.”

Ego has supplied its furniture to some of the biggest hotels in the Gulf Coast. I think the Kama collection lives up to its name. Kama means ‘sensuality’. The collection would be great for snuggling with someone special, or just for relaxing and drinking in the sensual surroundings of the area. Most of the pieces are made from lacquered aluminum with your choice of cushions in seven colors of Sunbrella outdoor fabric or white vinyl. Accent pillows are also available in seven colors.
