I have extolled the virtues of antique reproduction furniture before, and I will do it again: with the move to make hotels and restaurants seem more like home, there has been a renewed interest in pieces with charm and personality. What could be more charming than your own antique reproduction furniture? (They’re affordable, too.)
I enjoy browsing all kinds of antiques and reproductions, but the chairs and love seats are my favorites. I guess they bring to mind those old black and white photographs of families seated together in the drawing room, their faces grim because it was too hard to hold a smile for the length of time it took to complete a photograph. Maybe those folks looked a little grumpy, but their furnishings had style!
One chair I like is the MC P206 reproduction chair. It’s just lovely, and I’d like to sit in it in a parlor somewhere, having tea and crumpets. (I’ve never had a crumpet, but you only live once, I say!) And I’d have to be on my best behavior, crossing my legs at the ankle and lifting my pinky finger as I sipped my tea. Yes, I can see it now.
The P206 has a solid beech wood frame that can be stained to the buyer’s specifications. The upholstery can also be ordered from the standard offerings, or the buyer can supply their own fabric. The chair’s specifications are: 92cm high, 68cm wide, 55cm deep, 43cm seat height, and 63cm arm height.
These chairs would be a nice addition to any bistro, and would go well with some of the lovely bistro dining tables I’ve seen. With the right accents, these chairs would suit just about any decor, from French to Victorian.
