Modern bistros can be anything they want to be. No longer exclusively French, I’ve personally seen steak house bistros, Italian bistros, and even a couple of Tex-Mex bistros (the combination of Texan and Mexican cuisine found in the southwestern United States; if you ever have the opportunity to try Tex-Mex, do so. And wear loose pants.)
Bistro furniture is just as versatile as the cuisine. You can find chairs emblazoned with logos, tabletops inlaid with colorful mosaic tiles, and, of course, the classic wooden or ironwork bistro sets are always popular. Choosing the right bistro set is sometimes as simple as finding the most attractive, affordable, and weather-resistant chairs available.
Whether you choose metal or wood, polyurethane or upholstery, it’s important to get a set that’s sturdy and which requires minimal upkeep. Luckily, there are a number of bistro sets that fit the bill.
I’ll showcase one type of bistro chair that I find especially charming: The EM WCH 003.
